Introduction
I specialise in building high-quality, made to measure bicycle
frames and complete bicycles. I use a combination of high-tech,
premium quality steel tubing and frame building accessories
in conjunction with traditional frame building techniques,
namely a jig which I designed and built myself, a pair of
gas bottles, a selection of files, and most importantly I
guess, the metal working and shaping skills I've developed
over the years.
I firmly believe that steel will always have its place in
bicycle frame construction. The strength, durability and longevity
of steel, along with the fact that larger frame tube manufacturers
such as Columbus and Reynolds are still investing in the development
and marketing of super lightweight, ultra thin walled steel
tubes, bares this out.
Prior to my time as a frame builder, I spent many years training
and working in various areas of vehicle related engineering
and fabrication, including the building and restoration of
lightweight sports cars. I then became involved in the craft
I most enjoy being occupied by - cycle frame building.
The first bicycle I built was a time trial bike for me to
race on. The first race I rode on it, I managed to achieve
a personal best (PB) and although I could not guarantee a
PB in the build price, I received numerous orders from local
club riders.
In terms of feedback on my products, I'm very proud to say
I have only had positive reactions from those who have seen,
ridden and purchased my bicycles.
Subsequently, I have built quite a range of bikes for an assortment
of people, from International athletes through to leisure
riders - I'm always open to new ideas and design requests.
