Racing Tandem
Designed primarily for time
trials be it sporting courses or drag strips. The frame is unusual
in that is has different seat angles, the captain's seat tube is 79
degrees and the stockers 74 degrees. By rotating the captain in a
clockwise direction it enables a lower tuck position with less
frontal area and therefore less wind resistance. This also gives the stocker very slightly more space, allowing
a lower tuck behind the captain. Despite the
varying seat angles the actual position of the riders (relationship
of
foot, knee, hip, hand) are the same as their solo's. All of this on
a shorter wheelbase makes this tandem stiff, responsive and very
surefooted. It's extremely fast on sporting courses.
It's possibly the only tandem
built in the UK that uses Reynolds Tandem specific carbon forks.
This required a custom head tube to be manufactured
but the result is well worth it
This particular bike has been
ridden on everything from sub 20 minute 10 miles to 12 hour races
